This is a brilliant bit of hackery. I had a driver x6 worked in Windows 7×64 and I am now using it in Windows 10 x64, after finding out how to turn-off the Install Warning, because unlike earlier versions, Windows 10 is not a simple click of ignore.

There are a lot of people out here in “never” land that would like to know this answer.

Apparently, WinXP bit can use the aic78u2. Not only did I have to uninstall the driver and start over, I had to remove the driver from the DriverStore aaptec using pnputil per the instructions at the following link: It allows you to open the install. I needed this guide to help me use this card in Windows 7 x64 and it worked like a charm. Hope this can be helpful.
