Bronstein’s Candidates 53 book etc. Again very readable, enough analysis, but not too much, and Capa’s games in themselves are very instructive. Computers in Crisis No preview available – Multitude of examples demonstrate These complaints have the effect of putting off many who would otherwise benefit kkoch reading this great book.

Pawn Power In Chess by Hans Kmoch – Algebraic Edition
An interesting question is what good general opening books there are. I certainly read “Pawn Power in Chess” and found it both valuably informative and – possibly more important – eminently readable.
There was also a similar book on hanging pawns. After a lucid exposition of the fundamentals and the basic formations of one or two pawns that virtually constitute the keys to winning chess strategy, the reader is shown a multitude of examples demonstrating the paramount significance of elements of pawn manipulation.
References to this book Computers in Crisis No preview available – I do not have Soltis’ book, so I was curious to know if anyone has read it and if it is similar to Kmoch’s book? Books by Hans Kmoch.

However the book from which I learnt most, given to me on my 14th hsns, was Golombek’s “Capablanca’s best games”.
I want “Even more vigorous is This profoundly original and stimulating book by an International Master and prolific chess writer offers superb instruction in pawn play by isolating its elements and elaborating on various aspects. Full of insights, particularly once he gets to pawns and pieces, but organized too theoretically to be practically useful.
